If you are watching your carbs, then Pure Whey is ideal for you. Each serving gives you up to 26 g of pure protein with as little as 1.5 g of carbs.

Protein-Glucagon Link

Champion Nutrition's Pure Whey Protein Stack contains both isolated whey and concentrated whey protein. These two forms of protein are in the two highest categories for bioavailability.

If the bioavailability of isolated whey were measured, let's say at 100, the measurement of other proteins on a relative basis would be:

Source of ProteinRelative Bioavailability
Isolated Whey
100
Concentrated Whey
66
Whole Cooked Egg
63
Cow's Milk
58
Egg White (albumin)

For preoperative and postoperative gastric bypass patients, Whey Stack protein is an essential supplement.

It is digested quickly and easily.

The consumption of 26 grams of Whey Stack protein twice (2) daily maximizes the production of glucagon from the alpha cells in the pancreas. In turn, this enhanced production of glucagon diminishes the body's need for insulin. This is especially true in the absence of carbohydrates or the presence of very few carbohydrates.

Caution:
Preoperative gastric bypass patients should not take more than thirty (30) grams of protein at any one time.

Once the upper limit of protein assimilation is reached at the cellular level, excess protein (like excess carbohydrates) is used for energy, converted in the liver to fat for storage or, to a lesser degree, converted to sugar and stored as glycogen in liver and muscle tissue.

When insulin is kept in check, cells throughout the body become more receptive to the uptake and utilization of serum glucose, thereby decreasing insulin resistance.

In the case of the type II diabetic, the beta cells in the pancreas are afforded the opportunity to re-tool and thereby regain their insulin manufacturing capability.

This is very encouraging to type II diabetic patients. Even during the Induction Plan, these patients often experience a significant decrease in blood sugar levels, which in turn reduces their requirement for insulin medication.

The ability to reestablish the manufacturing of insulin depends upon the extent to which the beta cells have been damaged.

Unfortunately, in the case of type II brittle diabetics, some supplemental insulin is almost always required.

Note:
There is an abundance of scientific evidence which explains why a great amount of weight loss, per se, often cures or improves the type II diabetic's condition.

Researchers point out that proper dietary adjustments can have a positive effect in bringing the body into balance (homeostasis) during the initial weight loss and during long term weight loss management.

Furthermore, researchers have determined that this "renewed balance" results from dietary-induced changes in complex metabolic, physiological, and hormonal functions:

  • caloric expenditure is greater than caloric intake
  • all foods consumed are used for energy to run the body
  • lack of excess carbohydrates all but eliminates the requirement for insulin production
  • adequate amounts of bioavailable protein trigger glucagon, the fat burning hormone
  • glucagon stimulates the production of the fat burning enzyme, hormone-sensitive triglyceride lipase
  • glucagon inhibits the insulin-driven fat storing enzyme, lypoprotein lipase

    In Other Words...

  • No excess food, no excess fat storage
  • Weight comes down
  • Insulin production is restored
  • Bodily functions are normalized
  • Life is good

Again, crucial to long term weight loss is the dietary management of insulin production:

  • consumption of only low density carbohydrates
  • elimination of high density carbohydrates and trans fats
  • increased amounts of highly bioavailable protein sources
  • consumption of healthy sources of essential fats

Champion's Pure Whey Protein Stack provides the bioavailable protein component for any long term, weight loss program.
